D-Grupe Youth Club

D-Grupe Youth Club PortlaoiseHi there from D-Grupe. Our youth club was set up in 1998 with the aim of catering for youth over the age of twelve years. The club continues to thrive to this day. We have something to offer to all: from sports competitions, sleep-overs, day trips and brilliant youth services.

In 2003/04 we held a Good Friday youth service in Ballyfin which was attended by over 100 people. At it, we showed a video of the crucifixion. We also 'rubbished our sins' at the cross, had a dramatised version of the Passion and we sang some great songs played by our new youth band with singers.

We held two events as part of our fund raising campaign for the LSPCA. Our Family Fun Day was a great success in the Rock of Dunamaise. There featured a bouncing castle, candy floss, popcorn and an uilleann pipe recital by Rev. Philip Heak, the Diocesan Youth Officer. Our second fund-raiser was a 'Stay Awake' . The youth were asked to raise sponsorship to stay awake for 12 hours. Activities for the night included Blind Date, Who wants to be a millionaire and a soccer tournament. Overall, we raised €1000 for the worthy cause.

For those who are under twelve years of age (but in Primary School), do not despair! There is also a childrens' club which organises events during the school holidays. Previous events have included day trips and parties.
